‘It’s important to fight’: US cities erupt in protest as Roe v Wade falls
Massive protests swept across the US in response to the supreme court decision overturning the constitutional right to abortion.
Soon after the decision was released on Friday, reversing federal reproductive protections that have been in place for half a century, pro-choice demonstrators began gathering in major cities and smaller towns in a wide range of communities and regions.

Pro-Abortion Protesters: ‘Every City, Every Town, Burn the Precinct to the Ground’
Pro-abortion protests erupted in cities across the country on Friday evening. Thousands gathered in the nation’s capital alone, as activists burned the American flag and called to burn precincts “to the ground” in the wake of the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade.
Holding a sign reading, “They cannot control our bodies,” protesters in D.C. took it to the streets — an action far-left lawmakers actively called for — shouting “every city, every town, burn the precinct to the ground”:
City of Austin votes to raise minimum wage to $22 an hour for city employees
The Austin City Council has voted to raise the minimum wage to $22 an hour for city employees.
Several employees testified during the June 16 council meeting arguing a higher wage is needed due to inflation, and it would allow them to earn a livable wage in Austin.
The resolution directs the city manager to develop a plan and a timeline to adopt a living wage of $22. Right now the starting pay for city workers is $15 an hour.

With city of Austin raising minimum wage to $22 an hour, effects to be felt across business landscape
She wakes up at 2 a.m. to get to work by 3:30 a.m., but as the housing market gets tighter and living expenses rise higher, Cinthya San Miguel, a cashier at Tacodeli in the Austin airport, is moving outside the city and will need to wake up even earlier to arrive on time.
San Miguel is one of many Central Texans working in the leisure and hospitality sector who feel squeezed by the economy. She and her husband have three kids and barely make ends meet on about $5,000 in monthly net income.

Canada doesn’t need two left-wing parties that support Trudeau
A less humble approach was taken in the last Canadian election by Jagmeet Singh’s New Democratic Party, the party theoretically to the left of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Liberals. Though the NDP also had no realistic path to victory — the NDP has never come close to winning any national election — Singh’s campaign nevertheless chose to frame him as a plausible candidate for prime minister capable of unseating Trudeau.
