A volcanic eruption off the coast of Tongatapu in the South Pacific has led to a tsunami warning for New Zealand and Australia, Hawaii and the entire West Coast of the United States, which was a timely introduction to Joe's presentation about climate changes involving processes of evaporation and of condensation. He also addressed the Milankovitch Cycle, showing that characteristics of Earth's orbit and axis orientation can change with time and affect its climate. Joe also spoke about Hellas Planitia, a meteorite impact basin on Mars' southern hemisphere and the similar impact in the Yucatan Peninsula.
