The intrusion into Ukraine appears to have been motivated--at least, in part--by the necessity to remove a series of US bio-weapons labs that were (it turns out) being used to conduct experiments on Ukrainian soldiers (as a new report confirms). Drawing Putin into an engagement, however, may have been the plan all along, as Mike Whitney has explained in a brilliant piece, which highlights that Ukraine is not the real target but German--and, in particular, the Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipeline, which will provide Germany with cheap energy and lead to increased trade and commerce between Russia and Germany. That will mean Europe will have no more need for expensive US military equipment and NATO will no longer have a rationale for its continued existence. So Putin is being made out to be worse than Hitler to prevent the emergence of a new, multi-polar world economy, where the US military-industrial complex is not willing to relinquish its profit margin for the sake of the German people or peace and harmony in Europe.
