The Chinese Communist Party is increasingly aggressively using a variety of techniques to secure its supremacy over the nations and islands of the Western Pacific. From its “Wolf Warrior diplomacy” to seductive Belt and Road Initiative “pay day loans” for infrastructure development to militarized maritime operations against indigenous fishermen and resources to strategically located and fortified man-made bastions, the CCP is mounting nothing less than a “maritime insurgency.” What are the implications of such operations and what can we do to counter them?
