Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics (Switch) - Game #4: Four in a Row

Game #4 on our list of 51 Worldwide Classics is Four In A Row, also known most famously as Connect 4 (trademarked by Milton Bradley which is why Nintendo couldn't use the name here). In this game, two players take turns dropping colored discs (sometimes checkers are used) into the top of one column in a 7x6 grid with the pieces falling to the lowest available space in the column. The first player to line up four of their pieces in a row horizontally, vertically, or diagonally wins the game.

There are four difficulty levels of CPU players to battle: Normal, Hard, Amazing, and Impossible. Beat the Impossible level to master the game. Also, each time you play it, you can unlock a piece of trivia about the game. There are four pieces of trivia about Four-in-a-Row:

1. This is only one of several names the game has gone by, including The Captain's Duel. (Again, the most famous name, Connect 4, is trademarked which is why Nintendo couldn't use it)
2. In its first incarnations, players dropped small balls of different colors into a box.
3. The moon has 1/6 of Earth's gravity, meaning it takes six times as long to play a game of Four in a Row.
4. The sun has 28 times Earth's gravity, but you'd burn up long before you arrived on the surface to try a game.

Also, a supplemental piece of trivia: Four in a Row is a solved game. With perfect play, the first player can win every time.
