The Legend of the Wendigo originated in the Northern Woodlands of America and Central Canada, the reason being is because these areas see the coldest and most intense winters. When snowed in or stranded for long periods of times people can often times starve, and when ppl begin to starve, they begin to get the cravings for human flesh. When there’s literally no other option and one person in the group dies from starvation, ppl have often resorted to cannibalism. But the repercussions of indulging in human flesh can be devastating as you just may turn into a Wendigo. The lore of the Wendigo runs back 100’s of years in Native folklore. And history shows legitimate record of them at the Hudson Bay Trading Company. Tho the numbers have gone done since the 20th century there are still sightings of the Wendigo today.
