Takin' it to the Streets by The Doobie Brothers ~ The Song & Album that Saved the Doobies

Coming out of Steely Dan as a superb Background Singer in the Studio, and Keyboardist and Singer on tour, Michael McDonald was thrust into the Spotlight with The Doobie Brothers on their 1976 album, Takin' it to the Streets, when lead Songwriter, Singer and Guitarist of the Doobies, Tom Johnston, went down with Bleeding Ulcers and overall poor health...

To help save the band from any letdowns, co-founder of the Doobies, Pat Simmons, and Michael McDonald were asked to step up and write not only enough songs for the album, but brilliant ones at that...and they both delivered in a BIG Way...

Michael McDonald provided for the Band, Takin' it to the Streets, It Keeps You Runnin', Losing End & Carry Me Away...four songs that helped to make the album another smash hit for the Doobies and maintained the legacy of the band...

In the song, Michael McDonald laid the essence of our Sick and Diseased World Out There for everyone to see, and also laid out the Solution as well, which is that WE Must come together as One People, One Family, One Force under God, out on the Streets, where the many dominate the few and can take back control of their existence...and as it turned out, Takin' it to the Streets has come to be known as one of the BEST songs ever written and an Anthem for all those Loyal to both themselves and to God...

Not bad for a young man out of St. Louis who was asked to save a legendary band from death and destruction...he reached for the Stars and struck Heaven...
