Plectrelminthus caudatus - MOVING DAY! Switching things up, hoping for better growth success.

Two years ago, this warm to hot grower bloomed beautifully for me... which was great, but that was two years ago. What went wrong? I believe its the fact that I had it bare root, and treated it like a bare root vanda, soaking it daily in it's own bucket. However, notorious sticklers for having their roots messed with, Angrecoids can stall for 5 years to bloom again, if there is constant disturbance to their roots. Needless to say, my placing it in a bucket every day, kept aggravating the roots. In placing it into leca with a self watering system, I am hoping that I can maintain the humidity the orchid needs, and not constantly disturb the roots. This orchid thrives on up to 85% humidity and does not like less than 75%. In addition to that, it does not like temperatures lower than 20ºC. My winter mediterranean temperatures will drop to 16ºC indoors (5ºC outdoors) with a humidity of 75%, whereas my summers can get hotter than 30ºC, but the humidity will drop like a stone. My hope, is that with potting this angrecoid up, I can provide the maximum humidity for it, as well as LEAVE THOSE ROOTS ALONE! Thank you so much for watching!
