Why are we trying to be like countries who don't have a 2nd Amendment?

What happened in the aftermath of the trajedy that occured in New Zealand only happened because they don't have a constition and they don't have a 2nd Amendment.

New Zealand has a tradition of hunting and shooting as sport, but there is no legal provision to own weapons for self-defense.
