ED (Erectile Dysfunction) can affect men from age 30 and upwards and can be very distressing and frustrating for both men and their partners.

Erectile Dysfunction cause:
Erection problems may be caused by non-medical problems such as tiredness, too much alcohol or recreational drug use, stress, depression or relationship problems. Medical causes include problems with blood flow to your penis, hormones, prostate problems or surgery, and certain medications.

How does Alprostadil work?
Caverject is a synthetic version of a naturally occurring hormone in our body called prostaglandin-E1. The penis normally produces small amounts of prostaglandin-E1 when you are sexually aroused. This hormone relaxes smooth muscle so that blood can flow into the penis to get an erection.

Alprostadil (Caverject) cannot be taken:
* in men who have a known allergy to Alprostadil
* in men who have conditions such as sickle cell anemia or sickle cell trait, multiple myeloma, or leukemia
* in men with fibrotic conditions of the penis, such as anatomical deformation, angulation, cavernosal fibrosis, or Peyronie’s disease
* in men with penile implants
* in men with very low blood pressure
* in men taking blood thinner medications

Side Effects of Caverject/Alprostadil:
Local Side Effects Reported by ≥ 1% of Patients Treated with Caverject for up to 18 Months:
* Penile pain - 37%
* Prolonged erection - 4%
* Penile fibrosis - 3%
* Injection site hematoma - 3%
* Penis disorder (numbness, irritation, sensitivity, redness, skin tear, discoloration, itching) - 3%
* Injection site ecchymosis - 2%
* Penile rash - 1%
* Penile edema - 1%
