Ecoregions of eastern Montana, part 1

Driving westward from the North Dakota border through eastern Montana, you can observe the changes in the landscape as we come off the gently rolling grassland of the Missouri Plateau into the more broken badlands of the Yellowstone Valley near Glendive. We stay in the River Breaks region until west of Miles City, where we enter the Central Grasslands and parallel the Yellowstone on our right.
