Episode 7 - Hardcore, Part 3: Punk

Punk (syncopy/speed/political):
Punk embodies syncopy, speed and political sounds but is mostly defined by its attitude or Mood-Image. Syncopy relies on dis- or aharmonies, a sound that accents the more aggressive nature of the Instrument, and that also sounds “noisy” to the unlistened. Speed represents exactly what it sounds like, faster or fastest without sacrificing pace for technique. While Metal in its purest form is fastest, there are subs of Metal that drown in the sludge. Punk retains speed at nearly every cost, even if modern Punk has established more syncopy and diverse Instrument. The political Lyric is as vital to Punk as syncopy and speed, but Mood-Image in punk represents independence, DIY, activism and critical thinking, challenging norms and status quo always.
