The Fed and Jerome Powell are committed to getting back to 2% inflation. If you recall in 2018, Powell wanted to raise rates, decrease the balance sheet and fix the system... but the markets did not like that! So they were forced to Pivot. However, now the markets are breaking apart even worse, but they don't seem to be ready to pivot this time? Perhaps they are focused on a completely different metric.
