Game #27 on our list of 51 Worldwide Classics is one of the simplest card games: Matching! The rules are self-explanatory: flip over any two cards and see if they match. If they match, you take them and you get to go again. If they don't match, the other player gets to play. Photographic memory is very important in this game, knowing where the cards are when unmatched pairs are turned. The player who makes more matches once all the cards are taken off the table wins.

There are four levels of difficulty for the CPU players: Normal, Hard, Amazing, and Impossible, which must be unlocked in order. Beat the Impossible CPU to master the game. Also, you can unlock a special Mario-themed matching deck by playing the game once, and each time you play it, you can unlock a piece of trivia about the game. There are three pieces of trivia about Matching:

1. You can also play this game on your own with the objective of taking the fewest guesses to clear out all the cards.
2. There are a lot of superstitions around increasing memory, such as using a blue pen when you study.
3. The human brain can hold about 1 petabyte of information. That's equal to 1,000,000 gigabytes (or 1000 terrabytes)!

Personal story: This game is everywhere, from the old game show Classic Concentration, the item collection minigames in Super Mario Bros. 3 and Yoshi's Island...you can find a matching minigame pretty much anywhere.
