CA Could Reintroduce Affirmative Action

California will be voting to end Proposition 209, which banned affirmative action. But a constitutional memorandum ACA 5 would reintroduce racial and gender discretion in government hiring and state college and university admissions. It comes as race and gender issues take centerstage following the death of George Floyd and the following Black Lives Matter protests and riots. But the affirmative action debate rages on as people argue about how structural racism, systemic racism, and institutional racism impacts our lives today.
