The federal judge presiding over Steve Bannon's contempt of Congress trial Wednesday warned the former Trump White House adviser's defense team about trying to turn court proceedings into a "political circus." 
"I do not intend for this to become a political case, a political circus, a forum for partisan politics," said District Court Judge Carl Nichols.  Nichols made the statement as he ruled to bar the defense team from asking questions about the motives of members of Congress who supported subpoenaing Bannon to testify about matters related to the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.
