Fabricating gears for Bachmann and Life-Like model trains

It's time to fabricate new gears instead of repairing the old gears. We've demonstrated time and time again that we can repair old gears, but what about just making some new gears from common RC gears? Yes it is possible to make new gears for Bachmann and Life-Like pancake motor locomotives. This same technique can be used for pretty much any locomotive, but especially these pancake motor types. We've mastered repairing so it's time to get on with fabricating. The main problem will be center finding to drill a hole of the correct size for the shaft, but is can be done and easily if you have access to a mini-lathe. Shaft sizes are just a couple of different common sizes and sometimes must be drilled to a size larger.
