The Right and Left are used to divide around the world. The conservative the liberal. The Democrat, the Republican. Optics and propaganda play into this as well, as socially speaking, the people of Japan might be conditioned to align with the American Democrat, a far-left liberal party which is the complete opposite of the Japanese Democrat which is a right leaning conservative that is closer to an American Republican. But the point is they share a name, "Democrat" and so they must be the same. Political parties are all optics, optics and labels to confuse and create subterfuge. The method is employed around the world and doesn't have to be consistent and doesn't have to make a bit of sense.
