#GVOS2020 - Colmanara Masai 'Red'

Beauty in a Beast! This orchid reflects one of the criteria of why I grow the orchids that I do. The name, to keep memories alive and respect heritage. Masai 'Red' was bought because of the tribe in Kenya, after which it was named, and from where I come. Kenya is boma! Its a big one, though, so if your are pressed for space, indoors, this one will certainly be a challenge to accommodate. For that reason, mine lives outside and has to tolerate temperatures as low as 5ºC, which is NOT recommended at all. Hence the leaves tell a story, but when looking at the blooms, they tell a story as well :) 7 spikes and approx 80 blooms this year. 3 spikes came from the same pseudobulb, which is a first for this orchid! It is very heavy, so I have the pot in an egg crate, otherwise I would not be able to move it around.
