2020 Teksavvy isp lets capped users have free unlimited then charges me extra 5 a month

We're writing to notify you about changes to the pricing of the services that you have with TekSavvy.

In August 2019, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) issued a decision that lowered the wholesale rates TekSavvy pays the large Incumbent carriers - our single biggest cost of doing business. TekSavvy took steps to pass on those savings by lowering prices and upgrading services for the vast majority of our customers. We saw it as simply doing the right thing.

However, the large carriers obtained a stay of the CRTC's decision from the Federal Court of Appeal. This action froze the rates TekSavvy pays at pre-August 2019 levels, keeping our costs high during the appeal process. Through PayLessToConnect.ca, over 150,000 Canadians from coast-to-coast, including many of our loyal customers, sent letters to their MPs in support of the CRTC's decision to promote sustainable competition and affordable Internet services.

Without any rate relief in sight, TekSavvy's costs continue to rise as Canadians

consume more and more broadband. With Canadians working from home and families staying at home during the COVID-19 pandemic, TekSavvy has suspended overage charges for all customers and invested in additional network links and capacity as we anticipate significantly increased usage in the months to come.

As a result, TekSavvy has made difficult decisions in order to continue providing you with the service you expect and deserve. Starting with your first billing cycle on or after May 1, 2020 there will be a change to your current package with us for OID557630. Your current package 15 Mbps with Unlimited GB of usage at a monthly cost of $40.95 will be invoiced at $45.95. Your package speed and monthly usage will not change.
