Here is a little test idea , Next time you're in a crowded public place

Next time you're in a crowded public place like a restaurant, bar, wherever,
Go to your Bluetooth settings before you get out of your car / too close to the building you're going in, look at the Bluetooth devices that are registering, Once you go in said building see if you get additional MAC address ..
