Coronavirus Pt 4: Why the panic? What if you are having symptoms? What are they not telling us?

Why the panic?

First, because they have let the media stir it up. The media thinks it will hurt Trump and the health officials who are in charge of this are encouraging it because this bug tends to hit all at once and cause health care to be overwhelmed. All our leaders have agreed to slow roll the infection through the population by letting everybody panic and stay home for a couple weeks while it dies down.

Second, because of something that has been going on for about 4.1 billion years now: Evolution. We need to contain this virus before it evolves into new and even deadlier and more infectious forms. One Wuhan worker with the sniffles caused this. What could happen if the virus manages to circulate through the entire human population and to mix and match with all known human coronaviruses and possibly influenza viruses along the way? Stay tuned. It seems likely this could rapidly propagate into many different forms. You could get sick again and again with these different forms. While they would naturally evolve to be less lethal over time, and you would likely have some cross-immunity once you had the Coronavirus a few times. While there would also be growing levels of cross-immunity that people developed, this outcome would not be good- and we are not going to let it happen.
