THE HOST 2006 - A military base at Yongson, South Korea, disposes of toxic chemicals in a drain into the Han River. Six years later, a monstrous carnivorous mutation emerges from the water in Seoul and attacks people at the side of the river. It captures some and saves them in a hidden place for a later snack.

An award-winning Kaiju film, and easily one of the best ever made, the story is a premonition of sorts of what the world has recently gone through with Covid. No spoilers here so you'll have to watch it. It also uses some of the best CGI FX of the time. The monster is not so big that it crushes buildings, but big enough to be a real danger.
