The new Ruger 57 pistol that chambers the 5.7x28 cartridge is on the market and hitting local dealers. The Ruger 57 is set to take on the FN FiveseveN coming to market at roughly half the price. We take a look at the pros and cons of this new offering by Ruger.

NOTE: The Ruger 57 does have the ability to accept an optics mounting place via the rear dovetail. It can be secured with a single screw to the frame. The securing screw hole can be seen just in front of the rear sight. This isn't an ideal solution for carry given how high it makes the sight sit vs. a cut slide designed for the optic to be as low profile. For this reason, I lump this into the "target features" bucket.
