Hi, I'm Michael Bancroft, writer and artist of The Lucent.

Going on five years now I've been passionately working on my magnum opus, a fantasy graphic novel that blurs the line between dreams and reality.

My first book in the series, 'Waking Dream', introduces readers to the mysterious world of The Lucent, a place that on the surface looks not too dissimilar to world you know, but where nothing is quite as it seems. It's a place where powerful enemies hide in plain sight, fighting ancient battles for control of the future.

Here we meet Ella Forsythe, a young woman who by all accounts appears to be living a low-key life. But in her dreams she's hiding a secret with the power to turn everything we know upside down.

The Lucent is a story set as much in the ancient past as it is in the current day. I'm fascinated with the idea that our history is far stranger than we've been led to believe, and that secret truths are hidden in our myths and legend. That awe and wonder of what might have been is woven right into the lore of The Lucent.

As a writer, I believe in writing the story you most want to read, and as an artist, I do my best to breathe life into that story, with the most atmosphere and emotion my hands can create. That's why comics are the perfect medium to breathe life into new stories in ways we've never seen before. Their only limit is our own imagination.
