Oregon Trail near Casper

Exploring the prairie west of Casper, WY, looking for traces of the Oregon Trail.

The California/Oregon/Mormon trails went through modern-day Casper, but then turned to the SW after crossing the North Fork of the Platte. They passed the western tip of the Laramie Mountains and followed a broad valley.

There is likely evidence of the trails in this area, but too subtle for the amateur eye. It is also possible the trails did not use the same tracks, but randomly moved through the valley at different spots, therefore leaving few traces or scars on the landscape.
