Largest pink diamond in 300 years discovered in Angola

A large pink diamond, believed to be the largest pink diamond found in 300 years, was discovered at a mine in Angola on Wednesday.

The 170-carat diamond, named the "Lulo Rose" was discovered in a river bed by the Lulo alluvial diamond mine, owned by the Lucapa Diamond Company. Pink diamonds are considered rare, according to Lucapa Diamond Company Managing Director Stephen Wetherall.
