I only ever use paint and water for all techniques, so I must be careful and only use the best qualities of paints so they do not break down.

If you want to use a student level paint and mix it only with water, you must add a higher quality paint to it. The student level paints have less binders in it so the molecules in the paint will not bind together as strongly. The binders in both Golden and Amsterdam are very good!
