DUNEDIN MAYOR "DISTASTEFUL & REPUGNANT", NZ

Dunedin Mayor Aaron Hawkins has accused feminist Jennifer Scott of being "distasteful & repugnant" when it was his behavior towards her & his fellow council members that could be described that way.

Scott addressed community concerns about men purporting to be women using changing rooms at Moana Pool which was causing safety issues for women & girls.

She asked for the council to ensure designated sex-based private areas, such as changing rooms & toilets, would be upheld in all facilities funded or owned by the council.

Hawkins, became visibly agitated when Cr Lee Vandervis made a point of order & said the forum was not an appropriate place for Hawkins’ personal views, rather it was the job of the council to listen.

Hawkins attempted to rush question time & seemed uncomfortable when Scott spoke logical sense about the sexes & the need for safety.
