39 years later Newsweek removed the article from it's website and posted a rebuttal to it's own story.

Since then, the author Peter Gwynne also retracted his own story and jumped on the "Global Warming bandwagon, and is now on the "Climate Change" bandwagon.

Earth has had #ClimateChange for 4.5 billion years. The last extinction era were the dinosaurs 65 million years ago by asteroid. The older our Sun gets, the hotter it burns, until it will eventually become a Red Giant in about 4.5 billion years from now . . . and fry us all!

So the "THE END IS NEAR" . . . but not that near.
