Come along with us on a journey through a fairyland of ferns and a journey through time.

In this episode, we find ourselves in Cape Disappointment. After spending a few nights near Olympia Washington in the Capital Forest, we left our mountain perch for the beach and lighthouses.

Cape Disappointment didn’t disappoint us in any way. We managed to visit during a period of clear and rain-free weather - even in December.
We explored the beach just steps from our campsite and explored trails that wound through stands of fern taller than us.
The abandoned weapons battery establishing during the Civil War and then developed through WWII piqued our interest as we explored the remnants from times gone by.
We explored the grounds of both the lighthouses on the Cape - the North Head Lighthouse and the Cape Disappointment Lighthouse.
