Step-Parents: Employ Empathy

Step-parents are a special breed of people. Here are some tools to put in your tool chest with your children. Employ empathy, try to imagine how they feel and react based upon that, quick taking what they do personally, many times they are in conflict and you are the innocent victim of their internal turmoil. Sow love into them. Sow into them that you are their "safe place". Use your spouse's intuitive knowledge about who they are. Develop your own relationship with everyone in the home. Then you will be successful as a Step-Parent.
