Propaganda and the Iran Protests

There has been a war of words going on between the US and Iran regarding the death count from the crackdown on the recent protest movement in Iran. The US is insisting that over 1000 people have been killed without citing any actual evidence. Iran however doesn't seem to be totally honest either however. In cases like this, it is very difficult to criticize any one side without being called a shill for the other side. This sort of binary thinking however completely stifles any search for truth.
