New numbers from Statistics Canada reinforce what many have been hearing from police and ethnic, religious, and LGBTQ2+ communities all across Canada: hate crimes are on the rise.

The numbers show reports of such attacks have risen 72 per cent since the start of the pandemic, with religious minorities bearing the brunt of the hate.
