The origin of the Muhammad myth: based on ideas, real people and myths

The "Muhammad" of the Standard Islamic Narrative of the 8th and 9th century is a myth. Yes, there were historical figures, who were inspirations and who were likely who early sources are referencing but these are a far cry from the later 8th century myth.
