Did Ibn Hisham re-hash some of the Gospel stories?

It is difficult not to get the impression that either Ibn Hisham or Ibn Ishaq wrote the Sirah with the Gospels open for inspiration. Rather than being a straight biography of Muhammad, is it a blatant but ham-fisted attempt to copy biblical typologies?
