Many think God sends the plagues, blights, and famines as a punishment, and I disagree; I believe they result from humanity's choices based on lust, greed, and lies that have labored over the years to create the mechanisms and conditions for those events.

As I read it, God's intervention saved humanity from utter destruction at their own hands.

"For then there will be a great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will again." And if those days had not been cut short, no life would have been saved; but for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short."
