Quickie: Historical Revisionism

If you correct someone on their orthodox but wrong view of history, they'll accuse you of "historical revisionism." But there's nothing wrong with revisionism; you should change your view when it's shown to be wrong. But they conflate it with something else: historical negationism, where history is manipulated by someone pushing an agenda. It's important to know the difference.

(And yes, I munged the Orwell quote. Sorry. It should go: "He who controls the past controls the future. He who controls the present controls the past.")
