"China's Baiyun Airport in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, became the world's busiest airport in 2020.

Guangdong Airport Management Group announced, on January 25, Beijing time, that Baiyun Airport had a passenger throughput, of around 43.8 million in 2020, ranking number one in the world.

Affected by the Covid-19 pandemics, the throughput of major airports around the world declined significantly in 2020, and the same is true with Baiyun Airport. In 2019, its throughput was 73.4 million, ranking number eleven in the world, but as other airports suffered more severely from the pandemic, Baiyun Airport became the busiest airport in the world."
