Finding Your Courage

In this episode we meet Carmen. She is telling her story, publicly, for the first time in the hope it may help others. Carmen gives us a glimpse into a troubled childhood, living in a house of trauma - suffering verbal and physical abuse - before being placed into group foster care: then seeking refuge and acceptance, joining the Navy in NZ.

The key message from this story is that despite what may happen to you, this does not define who you are. Coming from a place of isolation Carmen knew she just had to make things work.

Her story is a poignant illustration as to how life is about finding your own inner courage. And we thank Carmen for having the courage to talk in the studio, on camera, and share her story with such honesty.
