A Memorial Service for Johnny Bernard Chandler

Johnny “Goat” Bernard Chandler, 84, of Claremont passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his family following a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

He was born on October 3, 1936 in Buncombe County to the late Rev. Jack Chandler and Iva Lee Revis Chandler. Goat was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Conover and retired after many years from the furniture industry.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Lee Roy Chandler.

Wife of 58 years: Bobbie Huffman Chandler of the home

Son: Jeffrey Chandler and wife Esther of Florida

Daughter: Jennifer Chandler Watson and husband David of Conover

Brothers: Orville Chandler and wife Delinda of Catawba
Bill Chandler and wife Diane of Maiden

Sisters: Helen Fox of Statesville
Marie Goble of Claremont

Grandchildren: Julie Caldwell (Rex), Cheyenne Watson, Jacie Chandler, Calli Chandler, Megan Chandler, and Emma Chandler

Great-Granddaughter: Aubrey Shere Caldwell

Special Niece: Lorri Stephenson and husband Fred

A service to celebrate Goat’s life will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Conover. Rev. Scott Johnson and Rev. Anton Lagoutine will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 to 2:45 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Those serving as pallbearers are; Kelly Huffman, J.V. Huffman, Robert Huffman, Rex Caldwell, Fred Stephenson, and Wyatt Huffman.
