Alan Watts quite rightly said when it came to psychedelics as a tool for expanding consciousness (or breaking the solidity of the ego), 'when you get the message, hang up the phone'. I know a lot of people who seek instant gratification. They are only entraining to a culture that has created this desire.

Technological advancements means that we able to speed up processes that used to take a lot more time, and with this ethos, we have created a cultural movement towards fast forward spirituality (in my perception). The work of teachers like Rudolf Steiner, or George Gurdjieff seem to many like an escalator compared to the warp speed of ingesting a plant medicine in order to get the same result, without the years of discipline and training.

To me, the work is done over a lifetime, not in 12 hours.
