The illness known as an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is well-recognized yet underreported. This course focuses on increasing educators’ and support personnel’s awareness of ASD and assists you in establishing a toolkit of tried-and-true methods to support the achievement of your autistic students.
Your recognized teacher and autism advocacy instructor will lead you through the course as you look at subjects like:
Putting an end to stereotypes about autism
The origins and classification of ASD
Creating support strategies
I have a variety of tactics to help you succeed.
Using strengths to treat autism
In addition to access to a variety of downloadable tools and connections to other sites, this course includes 12 video lectures, 8 readings, and other additional resources.
You will have the chance to take quizzes throughout the course to assess your comprehension and recollection of the subjects being taught to you.
You will get the chance to put your knowledge about ASD and how to assist the achievement of your autistic student into practice via two tasks. The first one focuses on you creating a support strategy for a fictitious student using the data supplied in the form of meeting notes and information submissions. You will go through five case studies for the second assignment, in which you must determine the student’s strengths and how you might help them. By giving comments on the responses of other participants and receiving feedback on your own responses, these assignments enable you to participate in a community of practice.
