House Speaker Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was joined by House Intelligence Chair Adam Schiff (D-CA) at her weekly news conference, one week after formally launching an impeachment inquiry against President Trump. The two discussed the committee’s work to conduct the inquiry which largely focused on the president’s call to the Ukrainian president in July 2019. Democrats accused the president of abusing the office of the presidency by pressuring the Ukrainian leader to investigate Democratic presidential candidate and former Vice President Joe Biden for his own political gain in the 2020 campaign.
