The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Switch) - Hero Mode 100% - Part 1: Welcome to Koholint Island

When one game ends, another begins. Welcome to my next play series, where I will play through the newly-released remake of the Game Boy classic, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening!

This game was originally released on the Game Boy in 1993, and was re-released a few years later on the Game Boy Color, with a new bonus dungeon. And now just last Friday a remake was released on the Nintendo Switch, with even more bonus content, with more heart pieces and seashells to collect, as well as a new miniature dungeon creator. Also added is a new difficulty setting: Hero Mode, which is like Hero Mode from Skyward Sword and the HD remasters on Wii U, where you suffer double damage and no heart pickups appear. If you know me, I love a good challenge, so I'm doing this on Hero Mode from the get-go!

This game is a little different from most Zelda titles because the titular princess does not show up in the game at all. In this game, Link gets washed ashore on the island of Koholint, and the only way off is to wake up the Wind Fish who slumbers in an egg on the island.
