Check Out This Very Collectible 1860 Colt Army

John Russell is an avid Civil War collector who brought a very rare and collectible 1860 Army Colt with him to a Texas Independence Day Party. This is a beautiful example of an early production 1860 Army Colt, a revolver which was used extensively by both sides during the war. This Colt has the production model of 10,095 and all the numbers on the gun match including the wedge.

It still has traces of the cylinder seam and a strong address on the barrel, all leading to being a very collectible firearm. This Colt also is a four-screw colt, meaning that it was setup to take a shoulder stock attachment. This particular Army Colt was owned by Capt. Samuel Starr of the 3rd Missouri infantry Union.

Russell was able to track down a little history on Capt. Starr and found out that he fought at the Battle of Chickasaw Bayou and The Battle of Arkansas Post, among other battles during the war. The Colt revolver also comes with Capt. Starr’s holster which was engraved to read “Samuel H. Starr - Co. D - 3rd MO Inf  - Lyon Bagd – 1862”
