The teaser of Chiranjeevi’s period drama Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, unveiled on Tuesday afternoon, had everything that his fans expected from it — a glimpse of breathtaking action sequences, production design befitting a bygone era and above all, a thundering Chiranjeevi as freedom fighter Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy. For legions of Telugu film buffs, the icing on the cake is the voiceover by Pawan Kalyan, Chiranjeevi’s brother or ‘Power Star’ as he is referred to by his fans.

For the uninitiated, the teaser gives an idea of who Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy was, by referring to him ‘the first rebel’ who roared like a lion and led a rebellion against the British East India Company. History has it that Narasimha Reddy led a peasant uprising in Kurnool in the 1840s, much before Sepoy Mutiny in 1857.

Bringing to fore the story of a forgotten freedom fighter is director Surender Reddy and producer Ram Charan. The teaser promises a film that’s ambitious like Baahubali in terms of its scale. The teaser gives an insight into the work of cinematographer Rathnavelu, production designer Rajeevan Nambiar and stunt directors Greg Powell, Lee Whittaker and Ram-Laxman in creating the larger-than-life clashes between Indian contingent and British troops.

Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy will release in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi on October 2 and stars well known actors from across India — Amitabh Bachchan, Kiccha Sudeep, Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara, Tamannaah Bhatia, Jagapathi Babu and Brahmaji, among several others.
