Church and The Government with Che Ahn

When the pandemic first began in early 2020, most Canadians took the approach of following the government’s protocols without questions and watching how things would unfold.

Many of our faith leaders have had to wrestle with the issue of complying with the government mandates, often citing Romans 13, which exhorts believers to submit to governing authorities, and weighing that up against other scriptural instructions telling believers not to forsake the assembly, to pray for each other with the laying on of hands, and to sing in the midst of other believers.

Some churches went exclusively to online services, while others felt convicted to stay open. This deep divide was further complicated due to mounting evidence that some federal mandates were not scientifically based.

Our guest today has grappled with all of these tensions firsthand. After initially going along with the mandates, Pastor Che Ahn of Rock church in California challenged the legality of the measures, sued the State of California, and won.

He joins us today to share his personal story of why he felt the need to take this stand.
