How many allusions to Poe's works can you find in this poem?! There are certainly a great many - I have already recorded all of Poe's works, you can find separate playlists of poetry and his short stories elsewhere on my channel. Just be mindful that Poe's poetry is where I first started my recording, so a lot of those are not very well done...

The opening and closing in metered verse feel a bit forced, though not quite as badly as in Poe's "Al Aaraaf", but still noticeable, but the blank verse middle is much more enjoyable to read, and hopefully to listen to. I did ok with the first two minutes or so of the metered verse, but got increasingly ham-fisted with the meter the longer it went on. Oh well. Note to aspiring poet's - don't write with such heavy metering as like in this (or Poe's "Al Aaraaf"). It may seem good on paper, but once you start saying it out loud, it sounds ridiculous and annoying. Unless, of course, it is your objective to have it (or the reader, if you are into that kind of humiliation) sound ridiculous.
