I am very excited that it looks like our local Yass Irish and Celtic festival of music, dance and language is going ahead this year, after a three year break due to Covid. Less than three weeks to go!

Thought it was revived in many forms during the 1960's folk craze, possibly after travelling to the US first.

The tune is referenced as extant in some of the 1800s ballads, though it is not clear if the refrain is historical or if it matches the tune used today.
